The 1980’s hair band Europe seems to be back in fashion. Their song “The Final Coundown” is featured in a series of commercials for the Geico Insurance company. Everything old is new again it seems. I remember this song from the fist time it was released back in 1986. This song takes me back to some good times in life.
When I misunderstand please help me to understand. Its not good when misunderstandings ruin perfectly good friendships. So much drama has been caused by folks who just didn’t get what one was saying. Communication is something I struggle with.
I internalize things and at times I can take something the wrong way. God gave us two ears and one brain to listen twice as much. Perhaps if we took time to listen to people to hear what they have to say then the world could be a better place.
I can let my extroverted, overly friendly self get the best of me. Sometimes I feel like I am a bother but know I want to respect everyone. Perhaps we need more of this in the world, but would people be able to handle that much friendliness?
During the month of October there is a focus on Breast Cancer and health. Both women and men can be impacted by this dreaded disease. Many people have been impacted in one way or another by this form of cancer.
More than likely you have a family member or a friend who has or has had Breast Cancer. For some the fight was a victory while others have been taken from us tragically. There are stories of everyday people who have been impacted by this disease that have been heroic. My mother-in-law is a survivor because she caught it early. Mary Ellen Locher, a former local TV news anchor here in Chattanooga unfortunately lost her battle but she has a treatment center at a local hospital named in her honor.
Self examination and annual mammograms are important in the fight against this disease. Research is ongoing into a cure for this and other cancers.
For more information on Breast Cancer Awareness visit Healthfinder.gov or the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website. Help spread the word about this important issue.
When a blogger returns to the scene after a absence it’s a joyous thing. Over time you get used to seeing them post daily and then all of a sudden they disappear so you wonder what happened to them. I am always glad to see folks come back after being away. For some a break is needed because they get writers block or perhaps they need to find their passion again.
Sometimes a bloggers computer is on the fritz or perhaps there are temporary Internet problems which make blogging impossible. I have taken breaks from blogging but I am not gone very long because this is a passion for me. Unfortunately some bloggers have to leave for safety sake and that is a horrible way to be forced offline.
To all who have come and gone and are back again its a joyous time. Don’t stay gone so long next time! Keep on blogging!
