Lend a Hand to Those Who Are Homeless

My friend Tiffany has launched a site to help others find their way in helping others. Check out http://scatteredbranches.com today.

While there are many different and worthy ways to help those who don’t have secure housing (and I encourage you to pursue as many as possible), here are a few ways to make a few dollars go far towards helping others in need and knowing you are providing value.

Prepare Individual Care Packages

Pre-assemble care packages that include helpful items like beef jerky, dried fruits, new socks, baby wipes, hat and gloves, travel size toiletries (save them up from your hotel stays), and grocery or drug store gift cards. These packages can either be distributed by you, if you frequent an area where homeless seek help, or delivered to your local homeless shelters, church outreach programs, and other non-profit organizations. Note that you should avoid products with alcohol like mouthwash and hand sanitizer. Also, if you package food and toiletry items together seal them off in separate bags or containers.

Everyone Has Sacred Worth

I believe every person has a sacred worth no matter who they are. God has given people an identity all their own and I respect them for who they are and who they choose to be. Every nationality on Earth brings something special to this global village. If we truly believe that God loves His children He chooses to do so no matter what. It’s not up to anyone to deny that love. Each one of us a is a unique creation that has the potential to do amazing things in this world.

I have friends who are just wanting to love and live without someone saying they can’t. Some are finding new identities that reveal who they are on the inside. This is the true struggle they face as people who want to be who they were born to be. They have sacred worth.

So with that being said I support and respect those who are LGBTQI folks who are living their lives in a very authentic way. No one in my mind has the right to deny them their civil rights or their right to live life on their terms. In America our nation is built on the concept of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness and shouldn’t that be extended to every citizen? I think every person should be able to love and live in such a way that we are included and empowered to be a part of the human family without prejudice. Everyone has sacred worth because that is who they are made to be.

Daily Prompt: Seriousness

Situations around us require a seriousness to deal with. Sure joking around can help you deal with stuff going on in life but you have to approach some things with sobriety and full attention. You might get lost in a situation that without having some serious attention could mean not so good consequences. When life or work demand your complete focus you have to treat that with the respect it deserves. There comes a time when seriousness is the only thing you can have to deal or cope in life.
