Frustration In Our Situation

Many of us who are believers are frustrated with how things are going in the country. We are human beings who are imperfect living in a imperfect world. Our angst comes from a place where we see people suffering and being separated from people they love. The LGBTQ community on edge for their own lives as well as the ones they love. I have seen a lack of regard by some for the rights of everyone to have life, liberty and happiness that is guaranteed to them as citizens but is threatened by others who want to keep it for people like themselves and no one else.

I have and others have said things that under other circumstances we wouldn’t say but these are not normal circumstances. There is a lack of a moral compass right now by some who are holding on to their power that was won through dubious means. We have a president who yes is a child of God but must be held accountable for the very bad things he has done like others before him.

Also the Christian community is split in two on many issues including some who voted for the current president and others who didn’t. I don’t know how we bring those two sides back together again down the road. God is good and will help but you know its going to take his people to make it happen. My friends have hope and take care. We are all in for a bumpy ride down the road.

  1. Hello Tony. as you know I am an atheist. However I have always supported a persons right to personal faith. I served two tours of duty in the military to protect that right. However the right to personal faith and to worship a deity doesn’t give any one the power to take rights from others. I served to protect their rights as well.

It is often said when a Muslim extremist either speaks or acts out we ask where are the moderate Muslims to speak out against this. As people like me are targeted by the fundamentalist religious leaders that have pushed themselves and their religion into the secular government we ask where are the moderate religious folk to speak out?

The truth is there are a number of vocal fundamentalist religious people claiming to speak for the whole Christian religion. As you visit my blog you know I fight back on their attacks against people like me and any others they feel are not living their view of godly standards.
This country needs every reasonable person of faith not to look the other way or stay silent over these social issues. Remember it is lives at stake, the lives of those so discouraged they commit suicide, the lives of people like me and my husband who have been together 28 years and our rights are being chipped away in the name of your faith and god. For the sake of our youth , of each young person scared to tell their parents they are different for fear of being rejected, we need the moderates to stand up , say no we wont discriminate, we wont hurt those who are different from us, we will walk out of any sermon making them the enemy.

Your correct that the Christian community is divided. But please don’t let the divisions keep you quite. If you have the convictions of your faith, then stand tall with them to be a shield against the hate from those who would hijack your faiths name and goals. Remember if the dominionist get there way and the fundamentalist take more power of the government, after they get rid of us, they will come for you the moderates who are not so exstreme.

Thanks for thinking about what I wrote. Hugs

  2. Such a good post and also the two other comments I have read are so level headed and compassionate. I am spiritual but not religious. I find much of what is happening today to be so discouraging. We need compassion and mercy and those two qualities seem to be in short supply. Thanks for this post. I am encouraged to know I am not alone.
