Simple times were not so simple for everyone. Some folks had it easier than others. Days where things seemed to be black and white had their own shades of gray like we have today. Few have had it easy while others have had it hard. It’s all a matter of perspective.
I think many people who long for “the good old days” forget all that was wrong, especially for minorities and other marginalized groups of people.

How about we confiscate all private property, ration the same amount of food to everybody, give the every person one set of clothes that they wear til it turns to rags then and only then do they get another. We could make artificial contraception mandatory, then euthanize any one who attained the age of 65. Would that be fair? If we contrived a society where assets were distributed equally, would that be fair. If a real genius came along like Robert Johnson or J. S. Bach, Michelangelo, or Einstein, just to name a few, would we honor them or kill them for making everybody else look bad?
