  1. Some men really do think they know better than women about anything at all, even if the man knows nothing. It is obnoxious. But thankfully there are lots of men who don’t act like that!

  2. Sometimes when making a comment or saying something to anyone whether in real life or online, and I’m not meaning you directly, I’m just generalising here, the recipient of a comment might be in a state of mind which may interpret what is said in a mansplaining way. That’s not to say that the recipients of comments all are in an unhealthy state of mind, because there are men that definitely mansplain and it is very obvious when they do.
I don’t know you all that well, but for now, I don’t think you’ve got that bug. 😎

  3. I personally don’t believe mansplaining is a thing. Someone who is condescending is just someone who is condescending, male or female. I have never understood the requirement for a word that in and of itself negatively frames men, what is the female equivelant? I see it as more of a buzzword to shut down male opinions than a valid term.

My only advice is: respect every one regardless of gender, but that is advice for both men and women.

Of course that is just my own opinion.

  4. I guess it’s when you’re putting a condescending view down on woman. Generally about something is specifically related to women. Like when a guy comes into a conversation that’s about violence against woman, and the guy wants to make it just about guys. Or complains about how there’s violence against men too. Which we do know about. But when you have women talking about violence against women, probably best not to whinge “Me, me me”.lol

    1. I agree completely although I have never met any men who have done this. If anything, I advocate for male mental health more than men do. They make up a large portion of suicides, homeless population, they disproportionately die due to work related deaths, they are given more prison time compared to women who have committed the same crime as well as receiving much higher sentences.
I think, if someone identifies with feminism at all, they should care just as much about male issues than women, as it is about being equal and it would be dishonest to say it is only women who suffer in Western societies.

  5. Since I am transgender and lived most of my life as a male, perhaps I have a unique perspective on the topic.
Once I started to seriously explore a feminine lifestyle, I was naive enough to think I would have a semblance of the male privilege I had learned to respect in my old life.
It was quite the awakening to be ignored in a conversation dominated by men. Since I worked in a world more or less dominated by women, I learned what they had gone through to achieve success.
My advice is quite simple. Just take the time to stop and listen to women on occasion and even seek out their thoughts or ideas.
    It will work wonders.
