If what we saw on Wednesday, January 6th at the US Capitol building in Washington, DC is the standard for patriotism then you can have it. I want nothing to do with it. In my mind, patriotism is another word for selfishness and greed and fear mongering.
Also social media companies set the rules of civic and civil engagement in order to keep people safe. If dangerous things are being discussed then it needs to be shut down. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom to scare or threaten people or communities.
Politicians who encouraged these actions need to pay dearly for their actions and speech. This got people killed and hurt. There are consequences to this heinous act.
That’s not patriotism, dear. Come back to us. The country is turning around again.

My question about patriotism is, just how many of these folks have ever worked in a soup kitchen, picked up trash, offered community service of any kind? Rather than working to make lives better for others and themselves, they blow money on guns, armored vests, camo gear, and big pickup trucks? I would have to say, testosterone, stupidity, and selfishness seem to be a very big problem in America.

Not all persons who have a shopping list including camo and guns are a part of the problem. My youngest buys and has those things, but he is a huge community volunteer and has no use for stupid people. Like those who stormed the capitol. Do see selfishness as being a big world problem, though. Bullies went from having consequences when I was a kid to being tolerated when my kids were being hurt by the bullies around them. Not cool.

One other thing I want to share while I’m on a roll, if these folks want to ‘Make America Great’, rather than acting like idiots and have time to riot and tear things down, if they spent that time and energy doing something for the benefit of others, for their community at large, they could indeed ‘Make America Great’.

Thank you Tony. It was a dark day and many of us up here in Canada viewed it with sorrow. I was delighted that the social media platforms shut down the people promoting the hatred and chaos.

Kicking Trump off Twitter was long overdue. Shutting down Parler is a good thing too. I wish I were in Canada.

If people protesting government corruption came together with those protesting police brutality, we could take back our country. But it’s easier to point fingers and pick sides.
