About Me

I was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee but I grew up in suburban Signal Mountain. As a kid I was influenced by great role models who have inspired me to be the person I am today.

Blogging has been a deep interest of mine. Being creative and expressive with words and pictures has opened up a new world to me. The world of blogging is a great way for me to connect with people around the world. This is something I have had a lot of fun doing.

My educational experience comes from Red Bank High School, Hiwassee College and Middle Tennessee State University, all places where the lessons of academics and life have informed me about the world around me.

My wife Laura and I met  in a singles ministry at our church. We have been together since 1998 and were married in 1999. Laura and I grew up in Chattanooga where we currently live. Shortly after getting married we moved to Murfreesboro where we lived for almost four years. In our years of marriage its been a series of challenges but our love has kept us going throughout the years. Our “fur child” is a big and very sweet lab-mix named Cody.

I have two wonderful parents Gary and Shelia along with my super sister Shannon. They live in the Chattanooga area along with my grandparents as well as aunts and uncles too. Family is very important to me.

Currently I work as a Telerecruiting Coordinator for Blood Assurance, our regional blood bank. I call donors to set appointments for blood donations. For 8 years I worked for Olan Mills Church Directories as a telemarketing appointment setter. My past work includes working in TV and radio.

Laura and I are both United Methodist Christians and are very active members of White Oak United Methodist Church in Red Bank. I am a believer in the love and grace of Jesus Christ that calls us to serve others and the church.

For over 10 years I have been active in the Alumni Association at Hiwassee College where I am a lifetime member of the Alumni Board of Governors and serve on its executive committee.

My interests are varied and diverse. I enjoy religion, social issues, politics, media, technology, music, cooking, and sports.

I am a certified, card carrying Geek. Embracing this fact has helped me become a better person. I tell others to embrace their inner “geekness” too.
