A Word About My Faith World View

I am a follower of Jesus, a believer and I really hope that I represent my faith tradition in a good way. It is important to me to share my faith without tearing down the faith of other people. To me God is presented and worshiped in very diverse ways using different rituals and customs. The key thing here is to love one another and to do for others as they would do for you. If we are all doing that then we are all good. Having a higher power is important because we need to be connected to something greater than us. While at the same time those who are not believers should not be demonized.

The way you treat others and relate to the world informs everyone about your relationship with and understanding of your higher power

  1. God is one, but He shows himself in different forms, to the different religions. If you read about the essence of all of them, their basic teachings are the same… It’s the way the preachers and believers interpret those teachings that cause the issues….

  2. I find that there is almost a deliberate categorization of Christianity today as “harmful” and this flummoxes me because it is perpetrated by people who have an unhealthy, almost religious attitude about the “state”, an entity that has killed more people in the 20th century alone than any “religious war” or religion-sanctioned killing in history. Over 50 million people were killed by communists under Mao in China. Over 10 million were killed by the effects of socialism and poor central planning. More than 2 million were killed in Cambodia under Pol Pot–add in the recent Middle East crisis and I have to wonder why the same people with Pro Democrat (mostly) and (some) Pro-Republican stickers on their car have such an issue with religion when their belief system killed close to a half-billion in 100 years.

    In defense of Christianity…

A Jewish historian writing about the Holocaust researched the Inquisition and found that non-effigy (that is when a piece of wood stands in for a human) deaths for the entire 400 year period was less than 20,000 people. This affirms the Catholic Church official records of it being about 16,000 people total and the meme of “hundreds of thousands” was a (now admitted) English protestant malignment due to the Tudor desire to rid England of Catholics.

Sorry, I tend to wax poetic on this subject because I feel all religions except maybe Buddhism ae much maligned lately. Is it “Islam” killing people or a bunch of put upon citizens of various nations growing tired of being bombed to freedom? Ooops doing it again.

    Thanks for the follow.
