I have been back and forth on the death penalty. However there comes situations where evil needs to be punished. Grace should be extended to everyone but for those who seek to do mass destruction and killing of innocent people they need to be brought to justice in a way that fits the crimes they commit. Perhaps this is an opportunity to love our neighbors in a radical way so they will learn to love others too.

I’ve had mixed feelings about it too. Even setting aside the possibility of killing someone who is innocent. Juts the way we are implementing it now is a good argument against. The average time from sentence to implementation is around 13 years with some spending twice that long waiting. It’s expensive and seems rather pointless.

It’s a toughie. Especially when the death penalty, ALONG WITH the blatant execution of the wrong guy via popular vote is what gives me access to the grace that transcends the here and now.
