We got a new-to-us desktop computer and I have been setting it up and making it our own. I am dual booting Windows 7 and Xubuntu Linux…yes I am that geeky. My reasons for doing so are to have at least one computer running Microsoft Windows (which you still need for some things) and to have my favorite distribution of the Open Source operating system.
There is something about blogging and writing from a desktop that is much better than a laptop or a device such as a smart phone. As a matter of fact I am writing this post from the Linux OS on the desktop and it’s quite nice. I find you can concentrate and have purpose to your writing. Yeah it might sound old-school like a typewriter but you know if it makes my posts better than so-be-it.
The funny thing about this system is that it’s a compilation of a Dell Optiplex computer, a HP keyboard a Radio Shack Mouse a Logitech webcam, Cannon printer, Samsung monitor and powered speakers I have had for a few years. It all works together which is the nice thing.
