Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Back In Black (with blue trim) On My Blog!

I am in one of those moods to be a little dark so I changed things again on the blog. Twenty Sixteen is a great theme I have used before that showcases posts and info quite well. You can customize it to be as dark or as light as you want. Part of me is feeling a little “dark and rebellious” so there ya go. Enjoy!

It is very important to know who you are. To make decisions. To show who you are. – Malala Yousafzai

So Twitter Has Updated

Twitter is looking good with it’s application update. New fonts are easier to read and finding stuff is more intuitive.

It’s Only Thursday?!?

Not really, but I wish it were Friday. It’s been one hell of a week!

What A Wednesday In The News

newsIt was not a slow news day in the world, at least in the USA and UK. Shootings in Washington DC involving congressmen and at a delivery company location in California. A tragic apartment fire at a high-rise complex killed 12. Not to mention all the stuff we have been hearing about for weeks in politics. Now there are stories that happened everywhere in the world but didn’t get reported for hours today. Our planet is a big place where breaking news happens locally and globally.

Many people have stopped watching the news but I say you have to keep informed these days. I am an idealist and optimist so bad stuff doesn’t get me down much but I am starting to understand the desperation people are feeling these days. When most news is bad news it really plays on ones emotions and psyche. My friends I say fear not which is something that is said in religious texts but even I fear a little because I am human. With political unrest and infighting it makes things even worse. Yes Wednesday, June 14th, 2017 was a horrible day but tomorrow is coming and there is a promise of hope there.

Dealing With Stuff and Things

I think everyone gets overwhelmed at life. They look at the whole of it and wonder how they will deal with it all. My advice is to fear not and to focus on the things you can impact directly. Someone wise said to be the change you want to see in life and I agree. In the past few months I have learned that letting go of things you can’t control is the best thing I could do. Life can present challenges that seem so overwhelming but it also provides people and resources to help you get through.

We are not meant to live life isolated because there are other people we have been given that can help us get by. We all get by with a little help from our friends so the Beatles sing. The only way to eat something big is one bite at a time. It’s sad when someone suffers but you can get through it all. So as you deal with stuff and things know that you are not alone.
