Trying Something New At Work, Hello ALYX #badonor

20160707_153921.jpg

I work for a blood bank and today I tried a double red cell collection procedure called ALYX. This procedure is a little more involved than a standard donation because of the technique of returning fluid back into the body while taking red cells out. You can do this procedure every four months. Some situations call for more red cells to be in the general blood supply and this is one way of helping. This process only took 26 minutes and saved lives in the process.

Shakira – Try Everything – From The Movie “Zootopia”

This is a great song from the Disney animated movie “Zootopia” and perhaps we need to try everything even though we might fail at it. Keep on going good people.

Being a geek means never having to play it cool about how much you like something… Simon Pegg

Just Getting By In The Place Where We Are

I think there are a lot of people just trying to get by that they fail to think about much past what they are doing in the next 24 hours. So many people chose to live in a community of their choosing where they can be comfortable in their beliefs and opinions without understanding how someone else lives. Too often we chose ignorance over enlightenment because its easy. It’s almost like the movie “The Matrix” in how we all live and operate and in a numbness to the things going on around us that have deep personal, local and global implications. We all have a responsibility to one another but our selfish nature doesn’t allow for any other options.

Life has become expendable. Just look at the news and you will find that is true. Too many young people are dying on the mean streets and on the battlefield. A generation of our best and brightest must find a way forward so we just don’t have to get by, perhaps we can thrive if we dare too.

Trust me when your life is lived moment to moment, paycheck to paycheck, day by day sometimes getting by is the best you can do. Sharing the struggles of life can give one some empathy and sympathy to the plight of others. Getting angry about ones situation can just empty your soul and harden your heart if you let it.

Relying upon the good graces of those who care can soften the edges and can help you get through it all. Being generous with time, talents, spirit and soul can give you eternal rewards. Try to be positive whenever possible. Faith can move mountains but you have to do your part too. Love will find a way, at least I think so.

Just a few thoughts inspired by some fellow bloggers.

Yea, It’s Thursday!

This week has scooted by due in part to the Independence Day holiday on Monday. It seems so long ago though for some reason. Today is another opportunity to do good things. I just hope I am good enough for the tasks. We shall see how things go. Have a great day everyone. Do your best. Grace, peace and love.
