Soccer Tickets Just Bought For The Chattanooga FC Soccer Match Saturday Night!

I just bought tickets for Saturday’s football/soccer national championship game on Saturday. This is going to be fun, competitive, rowdy and festive. They expect 10,000 plus for the game and this is fourth division competition. Chattanooga FC has captrued the imagination of our city and its exciting to see the rally of this scrappy team. It’s going to be a great match.

Championship Saturday in Chattanooga – Chattanooga FC vs. New York Cosmos B

Saturday night is alright for fighting…Elton John.

This Saturday it is going to be a football/soccer turf war between my hometown Chattanooga FC and The New York Cosmos B for the National Professional Soccer League national championship. I cannot wait!

Give The Gift Of Life, Donate Blood!

I work for Blood Assurance a regional blood center that serves Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and Alabama. We provided blood for patients injured during the shootings of July 16, 2015 here in Chattanooga. Emergencies are not the only time when blood is needed and the need for blood is constant. Every donation helps 3 lives and that is awesome.

Some folks can give while others can’t. We all have a part to play in making our world better. Giving your time and talents is a noble thing that benefits our greater global community. For me, donating blood is something I enjoy doing.

Working 9 to 5 – A Lesson From Dolly Parton

We went to see a Chattanooga Theatre Centre presentation of Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and it occurred to me that the queen of East Tennessee music is quite the feminist. This play and movie is about empowering women to be who they want to be on their terms. I think in the 21st century women should have the freedom to answer life’s call on their lives in whatever form it takes whether it be mother or minister, president of our country or CEO of a corporation. Women are a powerful force for good and they get stuff done. So their work from 8 to 6 or 9 to 5 is more valuable now than ever. As a man I support their wanting their own dreams to come true.

Some Perspective From The Funeral Procession of A Fallen Marine in Chattanooga Yesterday

Yesterday, Marine Corps SSGT David Wyatt who was shot and killed on July 16, 2016 in Chattanooga was laid to rest. He was one of five service members who lost their lives in the Chattanooga shootings at two military operations here. There was a massive show of love and patriotism yesterday as the funeral party made its way from the church to Chattanooga National Cemetery.

I am not a huge patriot but I love my country. What I witnessed yesterday during the funeral procession was more than love of nation it was extravagant love expressed for a family who chose this community to call their home. I am sure the folks of Hixson United Methodist Church were top notch in the funeral service and there were others who made their contributions too. The display of respect from fellow military personnel and law enforcement was unreal to witness. Across the nation four other funerals are taking place and we must remember those souls who gave their lives too.

This might be unpopular but we must remember the family of the one who did this crime. They too have lost a son. God calls those folks his children too and he doesn’t have favourites in this life. In the grand scheme of things there has been a lot of loss in this community and its time to begin the healing process. Maybe we should love one another more so that things like this don’t have to happen again.
