In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Going Obsolete.”
I miss seeing a reel-to-reel tape deck (replaced by various devices). As a kid my dad would play music on one in the family den on Saturday mornings. Seeing the tapes spin and the volume meter go back and forth is a favorite childhood memory.

The cassette deck is also a personal favorite although it was very limited in how many songs it could store and play. But its one of those things that I fondly remember. As a kid I would tape songs off the air on the radio and put records on tape so I could listen to them on a personal cassette deck.
Then there is the VHS VCR that almost everyone had. Of course you had to rewind the tapes. But I remember our first VCR when I was a kid, it was this huge thing that sat on top of a huge TV set. It was awesome to see a movie on a VHS tape.

Now there are other things I miss that have been replaced with new, innovative gadgets. But remembering the good old days is fun. You can appreciate what you had then and what you have now.
