Today is Super Bowl Sunday in America. The Cincinnati Bengals take on The Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Yes, this is a bit of a home game for the rams who play their games at SoFi. It’s going to be a good game. Both teams got here because they played their best in the playoffs against some really good competition.
I am rooting for the Bengals but something tells me the Rams have the best shot at winning. Either way, it will be a barn burner I predict. Quarterbacks Matthew Stafford of the Rams and Joe Burrow of the Bengals I hope will put on a show.
Los Angeles Laker great Kobe Bryant died today in a tragic helicopter crash. He was one of the best to ever play the game of basketball. In his storied career, he won 5 NBA championships and two Olympic gold medals for Team USA. It’s truly tragic to hear this news. Kobe leaves behind a wife and four daughters. Way too young to pass away.
Gusty Santa Ana winds and bone-dry conditions continued to stoke major wildfires in Southern California on Thursday as Ventura County fire officials said the battle there could last well over a week.
By Thursday evening, the Thomas fire had consumed 115,000 acres, destroyed 427 structures in Ventura and damaged at least 85 more, authorities said. Another 12 structures were destroyed in the unincorporated area of Ventura County.
My heart goes out to these people. This fire is as dangerous and wide spread as any in recent memory. It reminds me of the fires of The Great Smoky Mountains last year in and around Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I am hoping for safety for all concerned and that these blazes will be contained as soon as possible.
This is both visually interesting and impressive too. People are heading in and out of Los Angeles to begin the American Thanksgiving weekend. I’m glad I’m not in that traffic jam.
