I Am Truly Sad For Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’s Cancellation

For years, I thought the idea of a Star Trek series centered around its Starfleet Academy would be great. Stories of young cadets learning to be officers in Starfleet sounded like a great idea to me. Now Paramount Plus, the home of Star Trek went and did just that. A series led by Oscar winner Holly Hunter was going to take us into a new future for Trek.

Yesterday it was announced the next season in 2027 it will be the last for Star Trek: Starfleet. They didn’t even get four years like cadets in Military Academy’s get.

Some folks cannot get past the fact that this show is about infinite diversity in infinite combinations. They can’t imagine a strange new world. They just don’t have it in them to expand their minds to new possibilities like Gene Roddenberry brought us in the original series from the 1960s.

Some labeled it “woke” and I must say that Star Trek has always been and hopefully will always be “woke”. I thought this new series was fresh, unique and full of potential, but we won’t know. I am angry about this. That cast delivered great performances and told stories that were important. I don’t know where Star Trek is headed but with the new ownership of the studios being led by nefarious people with bad intentions I am not so sure.
