Today is Transgender Visibility Day. It’s a day that aims to bring awareness to those in the transgender community who face discrimination and celebrate their contributions to society. Right now, trans people face enormous threats to their very existence. There are laws under consideration that will make their lives harder.
I am a CIS gendered middle-aged male who believes trans people should have the right to exist without fear or prejudice. All transgender persons want to live their lives as their true selves and to make the world a better place. I know transgender people and I think they are awesome. All they want to do is be left alone to live as any other person should.
Tragically, people who desire to live their authentic selves die because of transphobia. Today we remember those who have died because of transphobia. Violence against transgender people is wrong, full stop. I have transgender friends, and I worry about them these days. I pray for their safety, offer my friendship, and may God be with them.
Transgender people are beautiful human beings. They are living their truth on their terms. I remember those lost to the violence of ignorance and fear. To the trans community be safe and keep your guard up.
Today, is about celebrating the achievements and resiliency of transgender individuals and communities. Transgender Day of Visibility recognizes the struggle, activism, and courage that have brought our country closer to full equality for transgender and gender non-binary people in the United States and around the world.
To the Trans friends in the blogging and other communities you have my support and I do see you for being great people. Now if we can get Republicans to stop making your lives hell.
Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, has been observed annually on November 20 as a day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia.
To those living their truth you have my support and admiration. May you be safe and secure. Remember those who lost their lives because of the violence and ignorance in this world.
