I have just shy of 200 followers here. How many do you have? How many is too many?
Making connections is great but I don’t want to overwhelm myself like I did on Tumblr where I have 1500.

Been blogging for a couple of months and I have 84 I believe at the moment. I don’t believe there is any magic number… I would think the more I have the more people actually read and like my writing… why does 1500+ overwhelm you?

Perhaps I want to have a smaller group of people who I can connect with and get to know. Perhaps I am thinking about this all wrong.

I guess it just depends on the ‘why’ behind blogging. I released an indie published book earlier this year, and I just want my writing out there, being shared and read… so the more the merrier for me. But if your goal is to make more connections with individuals, then yes – too many followers would be a problem.

i think one must write for himself,writing should be ones responsibility,who reads it Or what other understand from it ,,should not be ones matter,Because if you write something expecting that more more people should read it & appreciate it,it is meaningless,No doubt,you should definitely promote/advertise yourself,but it should not affect your writing style/nature.

Because number of likes,comments & number of followers can never be measure of ones writing,& you cant calculate ones writing based on those…It is not necessary that you write truth,& it must be accepted by all,it can be accepted only 2-3 peoples in your 100s of followers ,then it does mean that you had writing is poor…..

Actually one should develop the skill of looking at thoughts/opinions with same attitude whether those are from most famous/followed writer in world or someone unknown…that what i had described in my article”Impact of personality”…& in your case i think exactly same problem reflects from your post……

I almost have 200 and lately my blog gets more traffic than it had been due to some networking effort on my part. If people are really vocal I could see a lot more followers being overwhelming, but I hope for my own blog that it continues to grow. I do like commenting back and forth, so it would be a bummer if it got to a point where that wasn’t possible.. but also super cool that it was growing that much.

I have about 455 or so, my blog actually took me forever to get to this amount (due to not posting correctly, etc etc). but, I think getting a lot of followers is a good thing. Not all of your followers will comment on your posts or like your posts. But by having more followers you get more motivated especially when you have high quality followers who engage with you.

You can’t control how many followers you have. WordPress does not allow us to delete or limit how many or control who may follow our blogs.
You can only control who you follow and who you read. So maybe the focus should be more on how many blogs you are following rather than on how many are following you?

Ah, its awkwrd when you’re at a club and people are like “Hey I follow you on tumblr!”
I get so embarassed like, damn I post my feelings on there tho…

Hi Tony, I dont think there’s ever too many followers to have, so long as they enjoy what you write and post what’s the harm in it. I have about 700 or something but I would be happy for 50,000 I guess if I keep on posting by the time Im 80 I should be close to that then 😉

I think i have 126 at the moment, I love having new followers and following back 🙂 its nice to make friends on here too. I’d be crying with happiness if I had 1500+ lol
