I don’t watch Idol with the exception of when Chattanooga area native Lauren Alaina was in the final two. The show has made stars out of many people like Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson and has become an iconic TV show in our culture. Everything ends, everything has a shelf life.
We have watched American Idol for every year, except this year. Just didn’t seem to be as interesting. It has certainly had a good run!

OMG I love Carrie Underwood but never knew she was on American Idol. Dont watch that crap, especially X Factor and The Voice. But they do have some awesome singers come from it.

Carrie won it the year she was on. I love The Voice because its way more positive.

But nobody actually releases a single, let alone an album. Its been on 4 years over here and none of the winners have been seen again. The judges get more out of it than the winners do.

That is a problem with The Voice winners here too. Except for a couple country acts they pop acts aren’t played on radio. I fear that music is over-saturated with too many folks wanting a small amount of pie.

Sad to see it go, but it’s time.

It had a good run, 15 years is good, but it was time for it to wrap things up. It just lost something after Paula and then Simon left.
Lauren Alaina was good. Caleb Johnson, the winner in 2014, is from Asheville, which is where I live, so of course I was rooting for him. I also went to his homecoming here in Asheville. That was a blast.

My brother in law was Lauren’s elementary school principal. I think Simon was the soul of the show that made it spark.
