Sometimes you can breathe and be yourself when you are alone. We all have a game face to put on in public. So many people would love to be authentic when they are among family and friends but often they have to play their part, know their role, to be the person others expect. This might sound cynical but its often true. It takes special people to allow you to be the person you want to be without ridicule. When you are alone you are responsible for caring for yourself and maybe a pet if you have one. I suck at being alone because I have an identity as a husband and that requires being in the company of the one I love. Being yourself when you are alone is something you can do but it can be a challenge too.

to thine own self be true.. I had to disappoint a lot of people just by virtue of wanting to be myself, and have been fortunate enough so far to feel better about myself as a result. Hopefully it gets easier for you 🙂

When people ask me if I’m ever lonely.I tell them, “I’m never alone or lonely when I’m with God”. Our first and most important relationship is with him, when we have that all other relationships are like icing on the cake. When his brightness shines through us we glow and everyone around us should see it and be attracted to it. This is how the first church grew. His light, his glory. Amen?
