“American Idol” is ending after 15 seasons, juggernaut ratings, thousands of aspiring superstars and way too many covers of Whitney Houston songs.

I watched the show a couple of times when Lauren Alaina was a finalist against Scotty McCreery. The show has generated some amazing talent from Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood to Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert. AI left its mark and will never be forgotten in the history of television and of course music.

I actually watched the last hour. I haven’t followed this show in several years, but it was good to see so many old faces back, including the original 3 judges.

Tony do not be deceived. They will revive it in ten years and call it a new name. Then there will be a new generation who will buy into it. There is nothing new under the sun Horatio just the wind and the stars and they have been there for an eternity.

I agree so much on this. AI might be a novelty act sometime down the road.

Wow, didn’t realize the show ended so early this season. Usually it ends right before Memorial Day.
AI had perhaps more impact on music than the Beatles, The Supremes, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Madonna, or Prince had. I don’t think it was ever the same once Simon Cowell left. It just became another reality show afterward.

This must have been a shortened season or perhaps a slight format change. Simon Cowell was the heart of the show.
