In most countries the right to protest is a part of the rights of being a citizen. Some places deny their citizens that ability. Without protests we wouldn’t have civil rights for everyone. When there is a problem that impacts a segment of the population a message must be sent to make things right for the oppressed and the outcast. Some people don’t get why one group is protesting because they aren’t impacted by the thing or they might be the cause of the problem.
Standing up for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is a universal thing that everyone wants. When there is violence it must be protested. When there is injustice it must be protested. When there is hatred there must be a protested. When there is homophobia, racism, intolerance there must be a protest. To enjoy freedom for yourself you must seek freedom for others by non-violent protests that get your message across without harming others or destruction of property. Dr. Martin Luther King and Ghandi were masters at it. They created change without one single bullet.
Protest to create opportunity and change but never to deny anyone their rights to love and life. Stand up! Rise up! Show up!
Peaceful protest can bring change…but it needs time…long time…

This is a wonderful post in support of our right to protest and the awesome impact that protest, especially the non-violent type, can have on society.
However, even with the “peaceful” movements of Ghandi and King, there was bloodshed, there were water hoses, there were billy clubs, dog attacks, and unfortunately, there were bullets; two, in particular, ended the lives of the very ones who preached non-violence, love and peace.
