Republicans have to play the long game in this Impeachment situation. If they fail to adhere to the rule of law they will pay for it in the future. Donald Trump is not more important in history than the party he joined just to run for president. Sure it will take a super majority of the United State Senate and what they do will be written in the national record. I ask, what will they do?
Ironically it’s Mr. Trump himself who ultimately left the Democrats with no choice. Contrary to what he apparently believes, no one is above the law, not even the president. The coming days/weeks should provide everyone (hopefully) with more insight as to what actually took place. If it is proven that he broke the law, and the Republicans persist in their slavish support of this completely broken down and corrupt administration, history will judge them unfavorably.

First, thanks for posting. I think Republicans may be waking up to the fact, repeatedly shown by his actions, that though he demands loyalty, he has none. He has thrown many folks in his own party — people he hand picked — under the bus. And, he’d do that to anyone. Some folks think: “Well, he may be a monster, but he’s OUR monster.” They’re sadly mistaken! https://petersironwood.com/2019/09/19/essays-on-america-at-least-hes-our-monster/

I’m not sure they will ever get the votes needed for impeachment but hopefully it will sway all those who follow him blindly to not re-elect him. Even in his coverup story, he said, …”I could have and that would have been just fine.”
