Truth is uncomfortable. Hearing things you don’t wanna hear is tough. So often we seek comfort in life so the unpleasant stuff we don’t have to deal with. Yeah its human nature to avoid things. I am one of those who doesn’t like conflict or anything like that.
However in the days in which we live we need to hear the truth of others who are oppressed and harmed daily for their skin color, their gender, their sexual orientation and their physical disabilities. Prejudice is not fun. It’s something that people live with their entire lives. There is a intersection of racism, homophobia and classism being explored and navigated.
My friends all that is wrong. There is a reckoning going on right now and its making systems that have kept the status quo very uncomfortable. It’s past time it happened. As a white person I am learning more about the lives of others and how lucky I have had it. Seeing people for who they are and their experiences can help all of us learn and grow.
Truth will set you free but it will also make you face things that you have long wanted to avoid. It is time for all of us to be uncomfortable so that others might have a better life. Facing the facts of reality is hard and it won’t be easy but now is the time for the world to get it self right and seek reconciliation. The fight for the future is a noble pursuit. Now is the time to make that change. What are you going to do?
This is such a great post 😍

It took me a while to realize I was afraid of speaking out. Having worked for a long time in food and retail without experiencing any real success in life, I struggled to find any true meaning. I realized there were so many smarter, sharper-witted, and eloquent individuals out there that I grew ashamed of myself. I’ve put off social networks and friends because of this, especially now during the pandemic. Your post has given me a glimpse of hope during these windy times. Thank you.
