This old saying about a glass being half full or half empty is completely rethought here. A glass can be refilled. So that is something I am working on for myself. I have a glass that is in need of refreshment. Sometimes the third option is best.

I don’t believe anyone is missing the point. The point of the question is to determine if you’re optimistic or pessimistic. Not whether or not you can “change” – as would be the case with the third answer. I would say, if your case, Tony, your a “glass is half full” type of guy, since your optimistic that things will get better!
