You took a stand just by sitting wherever you wanted on a bus in Alabama back in December of 1955. That act of resistance started a civil rights movement that changed the world for so many people. You inspired so many to do the same things. You got into good trouble and because of you we are closer to becoming a better place to live.

There’s a secondary school near me (I live in the north of England) that divides their students into ‘houses’ for things like sports competitions and so on; Stephen Hawking, Nelson Mandela, Marie Curie, William Shakespeare — and Rosa Parks.

In school I learned that Rosa Parks was an old lady who sat done because she was tired. I later learned that she was in her forties and was also heavily active with NAACP.
