Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Share With A Homie

I’m more of a Pepsi guy but these Coca Cola cans with people’s names are fun. This can is a little generic in that it invites one to share a Coke Zero with a homie. I can dig the sentiment.

It Was A Monday

I went back to work after a 3-day weekend today. That in itself wasn’t so bad, but on the way home, our car broke down. So an OK day turned into something challenging and frustrating. We got our car towed to our mechanic, which took awhile, and we got a lift from Lyft. Both of us are safe, thank goodness. I am not always a good communicator in a crisis, and that is not a good thing. Let’s hope we can navigate the rest of the week and get our car fixed as soon as possible.

Quote Of The Day

June Is Pride Month, Honoring The LGBTQ Community

Today is the beginning of Pride Month, which celebrates and honors the contributions of those in the LGBTQ community. I am proud to call the people in my life who are LGBTQ my friends. This is a tough time for LGBTQ folks in America and around the world because of the hate and violence against them. Unfortunately, diversity is a bad word these days. All I want to do is be a good ally and to lift them up for being people who want to pursue happiness and love. Love one another, no matter what.

A Different Name

Daily writing prompt
If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?

It’s cool that the King/Queen of England can choose a new name for themselves. The Pope also gets to change his name to a name that comes from a prior pope, or in the case of Francis he used Francis for the first time.

I believe a name carries some weight. It becomes your promise, trademark, and statement.

With all this being said, I like my name. It’s not all that common. Now if I were to change it I would like the name Peter. In the Bible, Peter is given the task of building the church and is considered to be the first Pope. Peter is derived from the word “Rock” not that I am a rock or anything like that, but I am a solid guy I think.
