Today Is Maundy Thursday

Today is Maundy Thursday in the Christian faith. The beginning of the story of Jesus death and resurrection.

(From The Episcopal Church Website) The Thursday in Holy Week. It is part of the Triduum, or three holy days before Easter. It comes from the Latin mandatum novum, “new commandment,” from John 13:34. The ceremony of washing feet was also referred to as “the Maundy.” Maundy Thursday celebrations also commemorate the institution of the eucharist by Jesus “on the night he was betrayed.”

This evening at my parish, St. Peter’s Episcopal we will observe this event as a part of our Holy Week observances. Easter is one day, an important day but the story of it all begins on Palm Sunday leading up to Good Friday. The story of Easter is not complete without it’s backstory.

Daily Prompt: Quartet

Amazing things come in fours or a quartet. Barbershop Quartets make great music. So do the Beatles and a bunch of other four-piece bands. Four people usually anchor your news programs at night. I grew up in a family with four people. In “Sex In The City” we saw a quartet of women light up the screen with friendship and a lot of glam. Four basketball teams are left in the college basketball tournament. There is something interesting about the number four or a quartet that makes things just even, just square.

The Tony Burgess Blog – New Theme, Big And Bold

Screenshot 2018-03-27 at 7.59.23 PM

I have used the Toujours theme before but I wanted it to look the way I wanted. It took me some time to find the CSS coding to make it look the way I wanted but after much research on the web and trial-and-error I have made it mine. The coloring is based upon the college where I got my bachelors degree, Middle Tennessee State University’s school colors which is blue and white. Everything on it is bigger and bolder than I have ever done before. It’s easy to read and use, well at least I think so. Let me know what you think. Feedback is always welcome.
