You know you are overworked when you see a lot of overtime on your check. People work more and harder to keep a roof over their heads. It’s not unusual to see people with 2 or more jobs. They are burning the candle at both ends and in the middle. Being overworked can lead to burnout and worse. Life is a constant struggle to make ends meet so being overworked and sometime over stressed in so many parts of life. The notion of working smarter means working harder because you have to. Maybe if more people did their part there wouldn’t be so many overworked people in the world.
The Devil Wears Prada – Streep and Hathaway A Dream Team
You might ask yourself what is a middle-aged dork like me watching a movie about the fashion industry….well there is a lot to like. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci are quite exquisite in this movie about a fictitious fashion magazine editor/publisher which is loosely based on the real-life Anna Wintour. I think the fashion industry is a thing that we see on the cover of Vogue, Cosmo and on blogs here and there. This movie puts a human face on it but also tells the story of how competitive and cut-throat it can be. I see things like clothes, shoes, makeup and other accessories from how the women in my life consume and use them to make their lives better. For many fashion is a passion and is their lives. “The Devil Wears Prada” is a great movie and its accessible to men if they want it to be.

Hello blogging friends. I worked a 12 hour day today, something I didn’t expect to do when I rolled into work at 8 this morning. This wasn’t the first time I have done this in awhile. Sometimes duty calls and it means rolling up your sleeves to do a little bit more for the team. Needless to say I am glad to be home. Tonight I got us burgers from a nearby burger joint which are always good. I just hope to sleep well tonight because tomorrow is another day for us all.

Daily Prompt: Invitation
All you have to do is ask. There is an invitation to each of us for communion, companionship and community. Having an open door and an open mind allows new things into ones life. Everyone has an invitation to experience life in a new way if they just say yes. Too many times we say no to things that might change us for the better. There are opportunities in abundance to help others and you don’t need an invite for that, just keep your eyes and heart open and you will find your way. Life is a party and we should all have an invite to it.
Something About Live And Love
No one should impose their gender biases against someone who is living their lives on their own terms. Too many people are discriminated against based upon their sexuality and gender by people who project their insecurities onto others.
As a white, heterosexual man I have no right to tell anyone who they should or shouldn’t love. Too many people who look like me have nothing better to do than to run the lives of others and to tell them that they are wrong for wanting to just live and love. To my fellow old white guys…stay out of the lives of people who you have no business being in the first place.
Love is love is love is love says Lin-Manuel Miranda and that should be enough for anyone. We are headed into times when people who have fought to be able to love who they choose are going to have it tough. They don’t need anymore grief or strife.
Love thy neighbor as thyself and perhaps we should seek to understand our neighbors for who they are and not who we want them to be. Maybe that would solve a few things.
