Today is the debut of the 13th Doctor in the long-running science fiction show “Doctor Who’ Jodie Whittaker assumes the role as the first woman to do so. Every time there is a new person playing this iconic role we wonder what they will be like and what they will do. I believe with Whittaker who is a great actress she will make The Doctor her own and treat the role and the institution with reverence and respect. She will be brilliant!
It’s new Doctor Who day around the world as the 10th series of the modern era kicks off today on the BBC and BBC America here in the states. Today has been about binge watching last season with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman (who left to play young Queen Victoria in the ITV series “Victoria”, which is seen in the states on PBS). Pearl Mackie makes her debut as the new companion. This is Capaldi’s last season so we begin to speculate who will replace him. Let’s enjoy his brilliance while we can.
Peter Capaldi returns as the 12th Doctor for his final season. He is joined by a new companion, Bill who is played by Pearl Mackie. Matt Lucas joins in the adventure too. As a Whovian I am excited to see the upcoming season. We will see some classic villains returning too. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out and who will succeed Capaldi.
Peter Capaldi is a terrific actor and a great “Doctor”. He will be leaving “Doctor Who” at the end of this series/season. Peter made this role his own and it will be interesting to see who will be tapped to replace him in the TARDIS.
These blokes return to TV (PBS-TV at 9:00 PM Eastern in the USA) on New Years Day. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have another series/season of mystery and drama to discover. This is a wildly popular show that has taken the world by storm. Arthur Conan Doyle would like this adaptation of his iconic mystery detective series. Let’s see what happens in the premiere tonight.
The BBC World Service will air a 27-minute report called “Chattanooga—the High Speed City” this weekend.
To my British friends check it out.
