Be you is a easy thing to say but hard thing to do. Unfortunately there are expectations that others have of all of us in order to fit in. Life is tough enough without having to play a role that doesn’t seem genuine or authentic. It’s kind of nice to be in a space and place where you can just be who you want to be without anyone demanding you play the part you don’t want to.

There’s nothing wrong with living outside the mainstream and coloring outside the line. I am a proud black sheep of sorts. However there is a price you pay for it because some folks don’t want to understand you or your point of view or your choices. It’s a part of marching to the beat of your own drummer. Being a dork is awesome. Don’t you agree? It’s freeing and fun. Be yourself and all will be well.
Rambling About Being Yourself, When Alone
Sometimes you can breathe and be yourself when you are alone. We all have a game face to put on in public. So many people would love to be authentic when they are among family and friends but often they have to play their part, know their role, to be the person others expect. This might sound cynical but its often true. It takes special people to allow you to be the person you want to be without ridicule. When you are alone you are responsible for caring for yourself and maybe a pet if you have one. I suck at being alone because I have an identity as a husband and that requires being in the company of the one I love. Being yourself when you are alone is something you can do but it can be a challenge too.
