The Season Of Lent 2021 #Lent

For many in the Christian community today begins the season of Lent. This 40 days before Easter is a time for self reflection, penitence, forgiveness and thinking of ones life and mortality. Pope Francis offers this list of things one can do to observe and participate in during this season. Everyone should find something they can do from this list.

The Coronavirus pandemic began right before Lent of 2020 so it seems the season never stopped. There has been much sacrifice and loss in these days and thinking about this time in life and history giving up something isn’t what people really want to do.

Lent can be for everyone. There are universal themes that believers and non-believers can latch on to. No matter how this season of life finds you may you be encouraged, strengthened and cared for.

Monday, January 6th is Epiphany which is a Christian feast day that celebrates the revelation of God incarnate as Jesus Christ. It is when the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child takes place, and thus Jesus’ physical manifestation to the Gentiles.

I celebrate Easter from a religious perspective. Today He (Jesus) is risen, He is risen indeed. This is a day when good overcomes bad. The sun is rising anew and there is a new day dawning. Hope is offered to a world that needs it. No matter how you celebrate Easter may it be a time of renewal and love that transcends all boundaries. May you all be blessed today.

Today is Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, on which the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ is commemorated in the Christian Church. It is traditionally a day of fasting and penance.

On this day I am remembering the sacrifice that Jesus made for humanity. One embraced by many. To give ones life for the cause of love is a noble one. Today I remember that act. Jesus did so much in a short amount of time that made people whole and brought people together. He was a carpenter so he built community and offered justice to the oppressed. To those who followed him he gave them a life of opportunity to do amazing things. May all of us find ways to emulate the works Jesus in our own way.
