So I Am Seeing “Weird Al” Yankovic In Concert Tonight

Tonight I am going with some friends to see “Weird Al” Yankovic in concert at Chattanooga’s historic Tivoli Theater. The master of parody and satire has made an impression on the entertainment industry. I have been a huge fan of his for years and this is going to be a great show. His artistry is to take a song and make it his own and to put a unique spin on it. These two videos show his ability to make great music and put pictures with them.

It’s stormy tonight. Winds, rain and the like have made the evening more interesting. We have needed rain like this for awhile. (Image cap courtesy of Accuweather.com)

I was introduced by A.L. Gates by my wife who went to school with him a very long time ago. He is wanting to build a readership from all over the world. I met him a week ago and I found him to be snarky and interesting. Check out Mr. Gates who is becoming a master of the Macabre.

It’s raining, it hasn’t rained for so long. I am glad it’s raining. Maybe it will lower the temperatures and pollen while its at it.

A Beautiful Planet, A Beautiful and Important Film

Today we celebrated my dad’s birthday, which was actually yesterday. We took him to the Tennessee Aquarium’s IMAX theater in Chattanooga to see the fantastic IMAX movie “A Beautiful Planet” in 3D. It is a very moving film that takes place on the International Space Station. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence narrates this story of how our planet is a wonderful but fragile place that is our home. The space station is a really cool place where important work is being done. Those who call the station home come from different places and when you are in space borders don’t matter much.  Their work has a common goal of making the world a better place. One big point the movie makes is that our planet’s resources are being used at a very high rate and that threatens us all. Seeing the changes from above can change your perspective on your life.

We are to be crew members on planet Earth in taking care of each other. The notion that it’s every person for itself is wrong. You don’t get a free ride but you are responsible for one another and you have to care about the place you live before it is lost forever.

Here’s The Trailer for the movie…
