This is an interesting question because so many deserving causes need help. I would give a sizable gift to my church which also runs a school. Then I would donate some to my high school and college alma mater. I would give to organizations that tackle hunger and homelessness in my community. We have a shelter dog and I would donate to an animal shelter where he came from. The Red Cross helps people during disasters and I can speak from experience there.
The thing about it is that I don’t have to have a million to give. Small gifts are welcome too.
There is a constant mental jukebox running in my head. Music is a vital part of my life. I gain comfort, wisdom, and fun from it. Lyrics are great sources of quotable material. My life wouldn’t be the same without the melody, the moments, and the messages of tunes of all genres. I can say the world would be terrible if the music of life stopped. May the music keep on playing.
I see myself as a servant who hopefully leads others to serve. Sometimes servanthood is not seen as important. I like the concept of servant-leadership and we need more of it.
It is hard for me to relax. Often times I find myself having the need to do something. As a people pleaser, my radar runs continuously with the expectation of someone asking me to do something. Even as I write this I feel like I should be more productive. It’s hard for me to give myself permission to just chill out. This is something I need to figure out. People have given me permission to relax, I just need to accept it as a grown person who should be able to make their own rules. I need to calm the “F” down. seriously.
My full name is Anthony Leon Burgess and here is how my parents named me.
Anthony – comes from my maternal great-grandfather’s last name it was my grandmother’s maiden name too.
Leon – is my maternal grandfather’s middle name, the name he went by his whole life.
Burgess – is my last name as you can figure out.
Names can be like trademarks. I like this combination. However, everyone knows me as Tony, a nickname derived from Anthony. Tony in my mind is the greatest name for a mafia kingpin.
I love retro and nerdy things so I think I would open a shop where you could buy vintage tech, media, clothing, and collectibles. Also, that shop would be where you could get retro treats like soda, candy, snacks, etc. As my generation gets older, having things that remind us of our childhood would be comforting. Newer generations might appreciate antiques from the times of the generations that came before. Just imagine the things that you would find in a store like that.
