Yesterday was Good Friday. Tomorrow is Easter. It’s in the in-between when there is much chaos and uncertainty. For those who followed Jesus, there is pain, turmoil, heartache, and many questions being asked. Like anything else in our lives, the time between two events in our lives can be a little unsettling. Patience can be a virtue but it’s very human to lose a little faith while waiting. As Tom Petty once sang “The Waiting Is The Hardest Part”. Sunday is Coming but getting through Saturday will be tough.

Getting Holy Week Ready

Today at church we made Palm Sunday crosses and stuffed Easter eggs for Holy Week celebrations. It’s going to be a busy week at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church as we conclude Lent and welcome Easter.

Today is Palm Sunday which is the beginning of Holy Week for many in the Christian tradition. It’s a week of chaos and beauty and faith. The journey to Easter is almost finished.
Holy Week Begins – Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week, the last week of the Christian solemn season of Lent that precedes the arrival of Eastertide.

Serve One Another, A Foot Washing

Tonight was the Maundy Thursday service at church and it involves a foot washing. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as a act of service and love. A foot washing is a very intimate and very special part of sharing the love for others. Feet do a lot for us and we have to care for them symbolically and in a practical way.
