Forty-Four Billion

As you may or may not know Elon Musk who is the richest person in the world is going to buy Twitter for a staggering $44 billion. Some would say it’s his money and he has a right to do with it as he pleases. But just think about what could be done to change the world other than buying a social network built on binary code and algorithms.

Homes, hospitals, and schools could be built in developing countries. People could have food on their tables by investing in farms and food programs for the poor. Research to heal people of diseases could be done and so much more. Lots of stuff could be done and I wish his money could go to all that.

My dad was a big fan of Elon because of Tesla and SpaceX. I don’t have a great deal of faith in him owning something so powerful that can impact the minds and hearts of already fragile people. Of course, we will have to wait and see what will happen to Twitter and those who use it daily for connection and community.

I might be a weirdo and one of a few people you might know who is a person of faith or religion. One thing about me is that I don’t come across as preachy or holier than thou. Well, at least I hope I don’t. I think God is best represented that way.

Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil are three important services during Holy Week. Making time for them is as important in the journey of the Lenten season as Easter itself. For me, it’s my belief that being in Church is important the other 51 weeks out of the year. The same could be said for Advent for Christmas.

The only way to grow in faith is to be in one’s spiritual community among other practices. It is by doing this that one hopefully is close to being perfected in their spiritual life.

When sharing what one thinks about stuff it’s always a risk. Saying what you need to say is a 50/50 thing, agree or disagree. It’s those moments when there is fear of offending and possibly fracturing a friendship. As a reforming people pleaser, this has been something I have dealt with. Perspective plays a big role in how you see the world and what you think.

No two people think alike and hopefully, they can come to a place where it’s OK to disagree and remain connected. Speaking up about injustice is a good thing but it doesn’t come without a price. It’s my hope that what I say is done with respect for myself as well as others.

Opinions are opinions sometimes they make sense other times it leaves people scratching their heads. I am guilty of this, a lot.

What you say can change the world including your own.

Right Now Is Everything

People find themselves with their heads in the clouds or looking back or looking forward. Perhaps being in the present is the opportunity that’s being missed.

The good old days are not coming back. No one is promised tomorrow. So, all we have is now. There’s good things happening to see just by keeping your eyes open.

Right now is as live as life gets. It’s hard for others to understand that fact considering how tough reality can be and the temptation is to avoid it.

Keep your feet under you and don’t overthink stuff. I’m going to have a hard time with that.

Who Am I?

The question of “Who Am I” is a deep one. It’s different from who I am which seems to be more of a statement of fact. Both are worthy of some contemplation and reflection.

Who Am I is a lot of things and they are ordinary. I’m first and foremost a human being with lots of good qualities but I’m in no way perfect. A person’s flaws tend to be a great reflection of who they are for real.

I am a product of my past but in no way trapped by it. It’s my hope that I’m able to learn more about who I am in the here and now. People are a product of influence and the times in which they exist. It’s interesting to be on this journey. Everyday is a chance of rebirth.

In reality I’m just trying to live my life where I can be of service to others while having some boundaries. I also hope that in all this that I’m enough just as I am.

The thing about problems is that they are meant to be solved or attempted to be solved. Usually, there are other problems that follow. Solving a problem or series of them can help you accomplish great things. Sometimes resolving problems can get you home or get you to the next thing in life. Whatever your problems are I hope they get solved or become less.
