From Wikipedia: National Donut Day or National Doughnut Day, celebrated in the United States and in some other countries, is on the first Friday of June of each year, succeeding the donut event created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
No matter what flavor donut you have, may it be a sweet celebration of fried dough. Also, a coffee of your choosing makes it even better.
Today is National Donut Day where the prince of pastry gets honored for a day. I’m enjoying a jelly filled and maple frosted donut. It’s a great treat considering the week that has been.
Today was a day to honor the donut. Eat donuts. Enjoy donuts. We went to a local place for some tasty rings of deliciousness. There was a lemon filled, maple bacon, Snickers, Fruity Pebbles, peanut butter-chocolate, key lime…to wash it down some 2% moo juice (milk). We honor the donut for how it powers the community and the world.
