Today we remember the events of the day of September 11, 2001. Terror was brought to New York City, Washington DC and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It was a day that will live in the memory of people around the world forever. It was a day when people were lost, but a day when people were heroes too. Let’s be mindful of what happened and hope it will never happen again.
Today in New York former president Donald J. Trump was found guilty on 34 counts in a hush-money case that did impact the 2016 election.
This is a country of law and order. A jury of peers rendered a verdict of guilty. NO man or woman is above the law. The question is does America still want to be that in the future.
This is what the New York Times looked like the day after 9/11. This historic event must never be forgotten. It was one of history’s worst events and one of humanity’s shining moments in how people came together for a time in the aftermath. This event seems so long ago. Always remember this day. It’s important to do so. Let there be peace on Earth.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition in New York City. An amazing array of floats, balloons, bands and yes Santa Claus are an important part of this 90 year event!
Tom Hanks does it again in his great performance as Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in the movie “Sully”. Sullenberger on a flight out of LaGuardia Airport in NYC had to perform an emergency landing in the Hudson River after both the engines were damaged in flight by Canada geese flying into them. His experience led to all 155 of his passengers surviving.
In this movie there is a story of heroism and validation when Sully’s landing the plane into the river is called into question. Aaron Eckhart plays Jeff Skiles who is the first officer of the plane piloted by Sullenberger. Eckhart is a great actor in his own right and he puts forth a great performance and is a perfect companion to Hanks.
Tom Hanks continues to establish himself as one of the great talents of our day. This movie as a true-to-life presentation of the events of January 15, 2009 when that airliner made its water landing. It’s a movie that is meant to be seen on the big screen.
By next year, the wealthiest New Yorkers will be able to swim 300-feet in the air in a swimming pool suspended between two towers.
