Okay Walgreens Independence Day is in July. This is way too early to break out the red, white and blue paraphernalia.

In the past few years, I have not been myself or the person I was in 2018. That was five years ago and much has happened since that time. I got older, lost my dad in 2019 (that took a lot out of me) then COVID happened and of course, the political shit we seem to endure daily. During that time I have been moody and frankly not a lot of fun to be around.
The one thing I can say is that I can only be myself and the person I am at that moment. Pleasing people is a hard habit to break and I still find myself being a slave to that.
I feel as if I am giving off an aura I think that repels some people. I am hoping that gets better as I go along. Being real means being authentic whatever that looks like. People should have the freedom to feel all their emotions and hope that others will be there to help pick up the pieces.
I use social media as a way of connecting with other people and keeping up with what is going on with my interests. Of course, I comment but in a respectful manner. You have to be responsible for how you use it these days. Beware the comments my good people.

As a Star Trek fan, I embrace all of Trek. It’s what Gene Roddenberry had in mind I believe. Tonight was the series finale of Star Trek: Picard and I must say it hit me in all the feels. There was lots of high-quality fan service here and I was drinking it like a great wine from Chateau Picard Winery.
Saying farewell to The Next Generation crew was sad and I am glad their story concluded in the way they did it. Picard featured some of the best writing and direction of any TV show in recent times. Yes, I am biased. I believe they have set the franchise up for the future with new stories to tell and to seek out new life and new civilizations.
Thanks to the Picard cast and crew for three great seasons of action and adventure. To the Next Generation team thank you for taking us on a sentimental journey and bringing us a fitting farewell.
This was awesome. Live Long and Prosper.
This morning my priest started a series of faith formation classes on music and how it informs and inspires believers spiritually. It’s about engaging the heart as well as the soul in coming closer to one’s higher power. Music can move you more than just words alone.
Music has a long history in religious life. Its expression comes in various genres and different sects of Christianity and other faiths. Coming from a Team Jesus perspective I can say that music is an integral part of everything done in the church. In the coming weeks, I will be posting about what we are learning and hopefully listening to.

He has risen, now what? The celebration of Easter is perpetual. God’s people cannot just show up on Christmas and Easter because the faith of Christians is a challenge to be active, communal, and loving. It requires believers to love as we are loved by Jesus.
God is good and I am down with that sentiment. But are his people? Not always but that is what forgiveness and love are about. That is the power of resurrection. God loves his people and we have to be reminded that love overcomes a lot of stuff.
Remember the love of the returning Christ is also a call to resist the evils of fear, hate, and other things that do great harm to our friends and neighbors. Be yourselves but be the best you can with a little help from fellow misfits like Jesus.
