Tonight an era in late night television comes to an end as David Letterman has his last show as host of “The Late Show”. His storied career has been one of entertaining Americans for over 30 years. He came to CBS from NBC where he was host of “Late Night”. Stephen Colbert replaces David in the Fall. Thank you David Letterman, Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra for your years of making our nights a little better.

Sad here….

I have grown up with this man on the tele and I am sad he is retiring. So many top 10 lists and so many laughs. Sad day

I am familiar with him through blurbs here and there but I don’t think I ever watched one of his shows completely through. He must have been good at what he did to hold on to the job for so long.

He is a legend and innovated and did much to invent late night TV in the 80s – 2010’s.

I’m not much of a television watcher in general. I just never got into the habit.

If a show is something that folks are talking about I’ll go online and check it out.

I’m kind of stunned that he is now off the air. What a huge loss.

I think he was ready, as hard as it is to believe. He was in a fight with two young, talented folks in Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel so I suppose he felt like his day had come and gone.
