You have a great point – although some folks need books and there are times when topics demand a book (I have that issue right now with certain health topics that continue to come up in my circle – a book is the obvious next step).
However, I think some people miss the beauty of what you just pointed out – sometimes the blog is the goal – and the fun of it is the meat. Like some folks who write fiction need to put it all into a book (and maybe should) but let’s not forget the value of sharing one post at a time – engaging with small bits and maybe that is not the precursor for a book – maybe that is the all in all –
the meat!

You would be surprised how many successful authors have blogs. I know at least four I am subscribed to. Yes they write and are bringing in money from books sales but they also write entertaining stories on their blogs which then draws people to their books. Hugs

i like blogging, too. part of it is the feedback from readers, which is much more rare when a book is published

So, I dont see it as an either / or situation. I published a book in June and it is a very different experience than blogging. Not better, just different. I think of it this way: I go running regularly and do 3 or 5 miles depending on the day. But I’ve also run 3 marathons. That’s 26.2 mile treks. A very different experience, but what a great feeling to have done it. Not everyone needs to run a marathon or write a book, but if you want to, if you think it’s something you’d like to accomplish, then please do take the journey! Its incredible!! And like running a marathon, so worth it when you’re done.

I started my blog with hopes of one day writing a book. I have so many interests… blogging, photography, podcasting, traveling, music, etc. But for as long as I can remember, my dream has always been to write and publish a book. Not to make money, which would be awesome if it did… but just to have that accomplishment. I always thought it would be a book of poetry along with my photos but that idea has changed. I can now say I’ve started writing my book and I’m now on chapter three. I have no idea how long it will take but it’s been such a positive experience, so far. I can’t wait to see my finished masterpiece. You should think about it. You just might surprise yourself. 😀
