As you may or may not know Elon Musk who is the richest person in the world is going to buy Twitter for a staggering $44 billion. Some would say it’s his money and he has a right to do with it as he pleases. But just think about what could be done to change the world other than buying a social network built on binary code and algorithms.
Homes, hospitals, and schools could be built in developing countries. People could have food on their tables by investing in farms and food programs for the poor. Research to heal people of diseases could be done and so much more. Lots of stuff could be done and I wish his money could go to all that.
My dad was a big fan of Elon because of Tesla and SpaceX. I don’t have a great deal of faith in him owning something so powerful that can impact the minds and hearts of already fragile people. Of course, we will have to wait and see what will happen to Twitter and those who use it daily for connection and community.

I side with you on what that kind of money could do to change and improve the world. It seems trivial to me,social media. But I will withhold judgment and see how it unfolds.

Yeah, I don’t think he understands how big of a task controlling Twitter is going to be.

Time will tell what Elon does with Twitter. I think the handwringing is a bit overblown. It honestly shows how unhealthy our attachment to social media has become.
