Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

Christ in 2017 vs. Christ in History

Christ came into the world not to destroy it but to save it. I think the scripture taken literally is not to take it seriously. As far as warm and fuzzy there is little warm and fuzzy about it. It requires us to put aside our own prejudices and fears to welcome people who are different from us. Unfortunately rigid interpretation is what has driven people away from the church at a very alarming rate. When we care more about dogma and the ancient world than we do about what is happening here and now is when we lose our way. I for one think God’s story is still being written and things change. He is still the son of God but perhaps we need to think of new possibilities.

You can’t always get blood from a turnip or a stone. Only certain things can give that to you.

Hump Day Wednesday

Yea, It’s Wednesday! The middle of the week is always good because the end of the week is in sight. Hang in there everyone!

Six Word Story

Damn I ate too much tonight.

Love wins…today of all days. Cherish the ones you love every day. I salute the courage to love no matter what, no matter the odds.

Happy Valentine’s Day From King Henry VIII

King Henry VIII was a player and a slayer and a historic figure. He was married six times. To find out more about his love life visit The Historic Royal Places website to find out more about his wives who made history of their own. Some survived and some died. I think he was a boorish and cruel man but he isn’t the only leader in world history to be like that.
