Today, Sunday, September 8, is Star Trek Day – a celebration that coincides with the anniversary of the iconic sci-fi franchise’s television debut.

Star Trek is a cultural phenomenon. It’s about exploration, teamwork, compassion, intelligence, wisdom, understanding, friendship, humanity, love, and inclusion. Each show of the franchises explores those themes uniquely with characters that inspire you to learn and feel important things.

From the original series to Strange New Worlds, you can journey to places of your imagination and dreams. People like Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Picard, Riker, Archer, Pike, Deanna, Micheal, Saru, Janeway, Sisko and so many more have inspired millions to boldly go and to live long and prosper.

We finished our rewatch of the Twilight and I will say the whole franchise is a beautiful story of family and love with some overcoming external forces that don’t want their people to be happy.

The story of Breaking Dawn starts with a wedding, then a dangerous pregnancy, and the uncertainty that a Human, Bella will survive her carrying the child of a vampire, Edward. Bella did survive but only after being changed into a vampire. Jacob’s clan had issues with this thing due to an ancient tribal/coven agreement which got resolved when Jacob “imprinted” on Edward and Bella’s daughter.

The story goes on in Breaking Dawn: Part 2, when the Italian Vampires known as the Volturi featured in Twilight: Eclipse discover the birth of Bella and Edward’s new child and find it threatening to the world of vampires. The Cullens go out to recruit an army of fellow vampires and enlist the help of Jacob’s werewolf family. It ends when Alice shows what the battle would look like and the harm it would do. Peace does prevail.

There is a lot more detail in the books but for the movie I find these stories to be timeless, full of love and dedication to family and friends. It was fun to revisit the fine folks of Forks. I find the Cullen family to be one of my favorites in fiction.
