Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

What more is there to say, this young lady went through a lot in the last years of her life. Now she is at peace. Grace and peace to her family and friends.

Parmesan Chicken Breasts

We had this for dinner with last nights leftover macaroni and cheese. Yummy stuff.

Laura B's avatarThe Soup Diva

  • 1-1.5 lb boneless chicken fillets (can also use strips)
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon or brown mustard
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp white or black pepper
  • Seasoned bread crumbs (about 2 tbsp)
Mix mayonnaise, mustard, cheese, garlic powder, and pepper; coat chicken on all sides with mixture. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and lay on baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake 425 degrees 20 minutes or until golden on top. (Do NOT turn over, or coating will fall off; ask me how I know!)

Working 9 to 5 – A Lesson From Dolly Parton

We went to see a Chattanooga Theatre Centre presentation of Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” and it occurred to me that the queen of East Tennessee music is quite the feminist. This play and movie is about empowering women to be who they want to be on their terms. I think in the 21st century women should have the freedom to answer life’s call on their lives in whatever form it takes whether it be mother or minister, president of our country or CEO of a corporation. Women are a powerful force for good and they get stuff done. So their work from 8 to 6 or 9 to 5 is more valuable now than ever. As a man I support their wanting their own dreams to come true.

A Much Younger Tony

This is me at my cousins birthday party sometime around 1975 or so. I look like I am about 5 or 6 years old I would guess. Yep even as a kid I was dorky. This just seems like a long time ago and it was. As a kid I enjoyed family and being with them in times of fun like birthday parties.

Our Dog And Guardian

Our dog saw a cat this morning and barked his head off to let us know it was there. That cat in his head was like a lion coming to eat us. He is a good boy but his sense of pending danger is just a little off sometimes. Cody our boy dog can be a great watch dog but sometimes not so much. We love him still the same.

Hello Sunday

Today is the last Sunday in July which makes me think how fast the back end of 2015 is moving along. This morning we are headed to church then to have lunch with some friends and to see a play. More on all that later.

Whatever you are doing today have fun and blog on it when you can. I am enjoying your posts today. You know how to be creative.  Grace and peace to you all. God bless.
