Daily Prompt: Hospitality

I am reminded of so many stories in life where amazing things are done when people are welcomed. Hospitality means a lot and it can change the world. Making people feel at home and comforted can go a long way in building relationships and promoting peace. In scripture Jesus welcomed many and was welcomed into homes to share a meal and his ideas. In so many religions hospitality is an important part of what they are about. Today hospitality is an industry with hotels, motels and people renting out a room so someone has a roof over their head for a night or more. It’s good to be hospitable but it goes both ways. Never wear out your welcome and do your part to make others feel affirmed and secure. Always make room at the inn and at the table.

Daily Prompt: Cranky

Cranky is what you call someone who is irritable and sometimes unpleasant. It can also mean eccentric, strange and unorthodox. One can be both irritable, eccentric and strange all in one package. Genius comes from that place where if people are allowed to be genuine then they can do amazing things. Perhaps the cranky old guy down the street has done some amazing work because he was allowed to be authentic and living his truth. Cranky people have a heart but they only let it seen in their creative madness.

Daily Prompt: Control

Everyone likes to have control over a situation, mainly their lives. Giving up any control can be very disturbing to some. We all know a control freak out there who wants to manage every single aspect of their world including other people. The idea of having that much power is very concerning. Sure we like to keep the ball in our court and to have complete say so in life but its truly impossible. Forces out of our control determine daily our fate. Decisions are made in mysterious places that can determine what happens in our lives. Giving up some control can be freeing and will relieve massive amounts of stress but the reverse can be true too.

Throwback Thursday #TBT Pam Tillis – Cleopatra, Queen Of Denial

Here’s a song by country music artist Pam Tillis that goes with my earlier Daily Prompt post on denial. This song was released in 1993.

Daily Prompt: Denial

There is a saying that Cleopatra is the Queen of Denial (a take off of The Nile River) and most people are in denial about something in their lives. We don’t want to admit anything is wrong or something is not going to happen that will impact our lives. Denial isn’t a healthy thing because we don’t want to recognize that there are things in our lives that are not as they seem and should be. People get into a cycle of denial where they are living in a state of belief that nothing is wrong. Reality can kill denial and force us all to admit there is something that we need to take care of lest it harms us mentally, emotionally or spiritually.

Daily Prompt: Later

Everyone is lazy about something or another. We put things off for another time. Later is when we choose to deal with something important like bill paying or taxes or life choices. I say I will take care of that later but you know later comes when you least expect it and that thing you said you would take care of doesn’t get taken care of. Later is a future point in time but it’s also when we forget because other things have come along to distract us.

What is truly sad is when we say we will see someone later but later comes and goes or later never comes.

Do things now, see people now. Later isn’t always guaranteed.
