Part of any transaction involves the skill of negotiation. You have to use not only technique but finesse in asking someone to do something you want them to do. Making a deal is an fine art that people practice every day. In my line of work I negotiate with people to give a unit of blood to save lives. Others hope to make a sale or to get things done. Peace requires negotiation too with experienced people making it happen. Negotiation sometimes means going through some dangerous places to get from one place to another.
Meh is one of those new words that have come along to say how unimpressed or underwhelmed we are with something. Face it, being impressed takes a lot of work and even then it still doesn’t pan out. The word meh can be disheartening but in reality its truth and that can hurt. It can mean that we have lost our enthusiasm about things and its easy to do when there is a level of burnout. We are bombarded with things begging for our attention and interest so it has to be something special or its just meh.
Life can frazzle you out. At the end of the day or the end of a week you feel like you are worn out and need a break from it all. Finding rest and renewal comes in many forms. It’s good to recognize you are frazzled before it’s too late. Having time for self care is important in this frenetic world we live in.
Most of us have dreams of being famous or having some sort of celebrity. I do as well. Whether it be on a reality TV or on a TV show I have had that fantasy. I suppose it’s a part of my people pleasing nature and desire to be recognized and liked. They say fame can be a bitch and can bite too and from what I have seen I believe that thought. Famous people may have some advantages but they also have to contend with false news being spread about them or rumors and paparazzi. So I contend to do my part on the planet and hope its enough. An attaboy would be nice, maybe a plaque or trophy every now and then. But being famous, that’s something all together different. Maybe being blog famous would do!
Amazing things come in fours or a quartet. Barbershop Quartets make great music. So do the Beatles and a bunch of other four-piece bands. Four people usually anchor your news programs at night. I grew up in a family with four people. In “Sex In The City” we saw a quartet of women light up the screen with friendship and a lot of glam. Four basketball teams are left in the college basketball tournament. There is something interesting about the number four or a quartet that makes things just even, just square.
When something is something we are not familiar with it can be foreign to us. Countries not our own are foreign to us. It’s when we open our hearts and minds that things and places that are foreign become things we know. It takes courage to go from foreign to familiar. To known from unknown. Having a open mind and open heart can break down barriers and take you to that place where everything around you is known and even loved.
