A Faithful Ramble

I find it sad when Atheists, Agnostics, people of other faiths and people in corporate America start reflecting the love of Christ more than people who profess to call him their Lord and Savior. Many people have been run off from the church because of fundamentalism and legalism. Some religious people just need to shut up and sit down. Old time American religion leaves a horrible taste in my mouth.

I am a follower of Christ in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition. Our faith and practice is ancient but also relevant. We seek a 3rd way that balances scripture, reason and tradition. I am glad to be a part of a community that believes with our hearts and heads and our lives.

Rambling About Having A Level Playing Field

Amazing things can happen in a community when there is a level playing field for everyone. That means that you and others can go higher and do more things together. Equality and opportunity are important to make the 21st century its best. On the job its especially important when you want to advance your cause to have everyone working together at full strength.

Being awesome means having everyone be awesome from the same place.

Rambling About Moving Forward

To move forward you have to deal with your past. Life is too short not to progress. I am working on stuff to make myself better or at least I am trying. We can’t let what happened prior to interfere with the present. Move forward, don’t you look back. Just saying.

Rambling About Not Giving To Candidates

Don’t give to a political candidate in 2016. There are millions of dollars being spent in this campaign and the return on investment isn’t all that good. Just think about all the money being spent in this election cycle that could be put to good use to do the most good. There are alternatives and choices that would benefit people in need. Please consider giving to a college, an orphanage, a place of worship or homeless shelter or shelter for women in crisis. The homeless could use some of that to help get back on their feet as well as a unemployed person.

Maybe the best solution for our problems can lie outside of politics and in direct help to those in need. I think the political machine is too big and perhaps our election cycle is too long and too complicated. Democracy is expensive too. Charity and philanthropy are two ways to impact many people quickly. Think about all this as America goes to the polls.

A Ramble About Blood, Life and Love

Blood is made of cells, plasma, platelets but that is just biology. Everyone has blood flowing through their veins and it looks pretty much alike. However blood is different because of the DNA that is a part of it. That building block of life contains unique traits from unique people. The story of family, kin, people. Blood binds people, it saves their lives and it powers the body.

Your blood is about sustaining life. It’s continuing the lineage and connecting people on a cellular and corporeal level. It takes two to create a unique person who has combined two hearts to make a new heart with its own unique blood flowing through their veins. There are stories in blood passed down from generations and those tales are what make us unique. Blood is about a lot of things, it’s about all of us and perhaps we can use it to help love one another.

A Slightly Political Ramble

I am a left of center person who believes America is great when everyone has a seat at the table, people are taken care of and love wins for all. To me freedom is about assuring life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is extended to the least of these. America is only great when everyone can realize equal opportunities. Security is more than a call to arms its knowing that everyone is safe in the knowledge that their future will be bright. Today we should look ahead to new things and we cannot revisit the past that held people back.
