Today is my grandparent’s 72nd wedding anniversary. My grandmother passed two years ago in September and I miss her every day. The love of her life, my grandfather, is still with us and he is a gift from God to his family and friends. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday too.
The following post is from one year ago when it was their 71st anniversary.
Today is my grandparent’s 71st wedding anniversary. Today is also their first anniversary since my grandmother passed away last September. Polly and Leon were from a small town in Georgia, they moved around for his work in the Navy and in broadcasting. Eventually his work led them to my hometown where they raised 3 awesome girls.
My grandparents are awesome people who showed what love is to be about. My life has been better because of them. She helped raise me and taught me many lessons of life that I still use today.
I am grateful to have my grandfather still with us but I miss my grandmother very much. Some days I miss hearing her voice. We will celebrate the life they had together and the love they still share even though she lives in heaven now. They are both gifts from God.

Today on Facebook I said I would probably stop posting political posts there. After some offensive responses to some posts which led to the deletion of the comments and the un-friending of a person I had known for 10 plus years. Politics is personal and in this cycle in the United States it’s been ugly and is getting uglier. This campaign between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is going to fracture some friendships. No two people agree on everything. But being respectful is what we need in times like this.
