Christmas In July…Joy To The World

We are watching Christmas movies on The Hallmark Channel here in the USA. I am already thinking about decorating trees, egg nog, sugar cookies and the like. Right now we are about a month away before decorations appear on shelves and another 3 months before egg nog is in the stores. Right now it just Christmas in July.

Kindness and love are what I choose to show. It’s important to have grace and to extend peace online and elsewhere. I don’t think some folks know how to take my brand of humanity.

Fixing Your Post Mistakes #wordpress #blogging

I am glad that blog posts can be edited. Often times you write something that looks good at first, but it looks all sorts of wrong later. Those errors can be a little embarrassing when you don’t catch them in time. It’s not the end of the world, but you know you want to not make a fool of yourself. Grace in the blogging community for mistakes is a very nice thing to have.

Life would be great if we could go back and correct mistakes we made just like a post. Writing is something I have been told I am good at but when I do it there are lots of little things including punctuation that have to be fixed. There are great writers out there who do amazing posts and I hope to be right up there with them.

A Beautiful Planet, A Beautiful and Important Film

Today we celebrated my dad’s birthday, which was actually yesterday. We took him to the Tennessee Aquarium’s IMAX theater in Chattanooga to see the fantastic IMAX movie “A Beautiful Planet” in 3D. It is a very moving film that takes place on the International Space Station. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence narrates this story of how our planet is a wonderful but fragile place that is our home. The space station is a really cool place where important work is being done. Those who call the station home come from different places and when you are in space borders don’t matter much.  Their work has a common goal of making the world a better place. One big point the movie makes is that our planet’s resources are being used at a very high rate and that threatens us all. Seeing the changes from above can change your perspective on your life.

We are to be crew members on planet Earth in taking care of each other. The notion that it’s every person for itself is wrong. You don’t get a free ride but you are responsible for one another and you have to care about the place you live before it is lost forever.

Here’s The Trailer for the movie…

Thanks for putting up with my barrage of posts today. I had today off so blogging is something I wanted to do. I appreciate all of you who follow daily and who like what I have to say.

Independence Day, A Family Holiday Tradition #independenceday #id4 #movies

The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. Fighting superior technology, mankind’s best weapon is the will to survive.

It’s hard to believe that on July 2, 2016 this movie will be 20 years old. The film has aged well and I think it remains one of the best of its genre. There is great storytelling and plenty of action. Lots of stuff gets blown up, normally that bothers me about movies but in this one it doesn’t seem to.

Will Smith became a superstar because of his role in Independence Day. The casting in this movie is top notch too with lots of well-known names such as Jeff Goldblum, Robert Loggia, Judd Hirsch, Mary McDonnell, Vivica A. Fox and Harvey Fierstein.

This movie is a 4th of July holiday tradition. We watch it every year.
